Two fashion-forward 19th-century villians; The Artful Dodger from
Oliver! and Bill the Butcher from
Gangs of New York. I think they both look great. I love the eccentric mix. Maybe I'm a sucker for a top hat.
I had a crush on Jack Wild although I was only 6 at the time. Daniel Day Lewis is much more my type now.

it's the coat and hat...lol.
Aren't those Jimi Hendrix's pants?
And I am totally with you regarding Mr. Day Lewis.
On one New Years Eve, I visited an east German family with friends, in a small east German village, no running plumbing etc. They were intrigued by the presence of an American, and brought out various items they thought might be of interest. One was a beautiful tall exquisitely made black top hat. The top hat with a slap of the hand became as flat as a pan-cake, and with a smart snap, once again resumed its most elegant shape. I was very impressed! A mahvelous hat technology!
I was very sad when I heard that the actor who played the Artful Dodger had died young. He was so full of life .....and fashion sense!
CP: I love how you saw the connection between these two get ups. I wonder if this look was a bonafide style at one time?
I'm with ds....Daniel D-L could wear anything (better yet, nothing?) and I'd be a fan.
You have such an eye! I LOVED Oliver! as a kid (still do)although I think it was Mark Lester I preferred (now he seems quite wimpy). You must have been a fan of H.R. Puffnstuff then?
I love DDL, but couldn't stomach Gangs of New York. (Also, not a Cameron Diaz fan).

Kat - I haven't seen the movie. I hear it's too violent. Needless to say I run, not walk away from Diaz. She creeps me out.
