I was mightily impressed with how well this photograph turned out. I was doing the dishes and snapped this picture of the fruit bowl on my window sill. I think it has a real "old masters" feel to it. There are some suds on the bowl.
I've just had avocado for lunch and I'm not on a desert island (well, I suppose I am, but it's a pretty big island!) I think your shot is superb! I love still-life paintings and this captures the spirit.
Lovely photo, great colour - The blossom (Is that Chinese Lantern?) is a fine, delicate touch. Oh, and hang onto that pudding basin. They're hard to find now, and when you do find them, they cost a fortune.
It looks wonderful. Definitely an old masters' feel to it. I think it's all about the bowl...do you? And the black backdrop. Well, and the fruit, too. Good job.
In answer to a question, no, A River Runs Through It wasn't filmed in my town but in one near by that has more of an old feel to it.
Premium T and Megan - The bowl belonged to Husband-Pup's Aunt Sis. As she was born in 1912, I'm guessing this bowl is from early on in her marriage, maybe dating from around 1935-1940
Hazel, I can't find an email address for you so I'll ask here. Can I please 'borrow' your still life shot - I am really serious about trying. Promise I won't spread it around! Email me please. LBx

It's surprising how few still life photos of fruit bowls I see. Seems everybody wants to keep that genre in the paint realm!
And yet, as you demonstrate here, it is a potential goldmine of artistic validity! I like this a lot!
can't say it better than dogimo...looks picture perfect and i'm especially digging the avocado!
very nicely put together...avacado sustains life for long periods of time if ever deserted on an island...
A Still Life with a touch of Giorgio Morandi there!

WOW! It's like a real painting! Also impressed with a variety of fruits so nicely arranged! And I like the beautiful color of the bowl too.
Nice light on your window sill. Love the suds.
What bliss.
I am a sucker for still lives.I think it's the strong cast shadow that adds to the old master feel.
It is splendid.
This really is perfection! I love the shadows AND the suds on the bowl!

You're right! It definitely has that "old masters" feel. Now you need to paint it. (Or blow up the photograph and frame it). It really is stunning.
I love avocadoes.

Yet somehow the bananas look as though they are ready to jump ... on the verge of motion ... very nice!
You should be impressed. It's lovely. Too often people don't see the beauty right in front of them.
xo
That's a great still life shot. Makes me want to pick up a brush and give it a try. LBx
I want that bowl.

Happy Sunday.
I love that the bowl has a little chip in its rim.
