The Year of Living Creatively
The resolution that my husband and I came up with this year besides date-nights, reading more and losing the requisite 10 pounds, was to do something creative everyday, whether it be a painting, a meal, a song, or some doggerel written on the subway.
We toned it down to one creative thing a week. So far I have a work in progress - a painting. I don't know what it is, or what it means, but it's bright and the G Pup has already learned the chords for Dylan's Shelter From the Storm.
Hopefully this time next year we'll have 104 things to show for it.

Lovely resolution Hazel :-)
Good luck! May you keep it joyful! Maybe don't worry too much about the pieces of output, but the process and progress each week...
I think my creative resolution has to do with releasing myself from the imperative to create, which sounds sort of paradoxical for an artist...perhaps this is the "professional creative" conundrum...It has become a tyranny of sorts. I hope to find a better flow and balance of discipline and spontaneity. Wish me luck!
A wonderful idea. I look forward to reading about it. Cheers.
Now you're talkin'....er, paintin'.
Don't forget the Paint Off due on the 8th is one of shoes......you can do that!!!
Great idea! I will be illustrating a friends book on entertaining and decorating this year, first one for both of us!, so that should keep me busy for a good part of the year. I look forward to checking out your progress.
LOVE Shelter from the Storm, lucky you.
Another creative thing you can do is read a book or journal article outside your normal area. So if, for example, you always read art history, read a biography of an 18th century composer or a pre-WW1 ballerina.
Great idea. It's the best way to expand your mind and stretch it in new directions. Good luck and happy new year.
Very inspiring! What is that painting done on - velvet or fabric? It is very interesting ...
Cynthia, just a black acrylic background
TY, Pup!
