March 1st

If you were actor Richard Burton, and I'm guessing that most of you aren't, you wouldn't have to go to work today.

Why?

Richard Burton was born Richard Jenkins in the mining village of Pontrhydyfen, Wales. He grew up in a working class, Welsh-speaking household.

His film contracts always contained the clause that he would not work on March 1, Saint David's Day, the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales.

Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus!

If I were Welsh I would say this in Welsh, but I'm not so I'll say it in Canadian...

Very Interesting Fact!

oh, I like that! And, since I'm quite fond of Wales myself, I think I'm going to make March 1st no work day, too!
