The Niagara Glen trail is about 3 miles on the lower side of Niagara Falls. This is the view we experienced once we climbed down...

Here's some of the mossy and primordial paths we took to get to...
...the Niagara River. Yes, it really is that nice, clean colour.
And here are some of the trails we took to get back up. It was like walking on the floor of a terrarium. There was thick moss on all the boulders. The sunlight filtered through the leaves. We wouldn't have been surprised if an ovi-raptor ran past or if we encountered a Mayasaurus making it's way through the undergrowth.
We finished the day buy shopping for jam and wine in lovely Niagara-on-the-Lake. I'll share some of that later.

"Primordial" is the ideal word. Looks like quite a trek. Niagara-on-the-lake is always nice. Did you have any ice-cream?

I went to Niagra Falls .. both sides ... last August .. for the first time. Loved the water ... not all the tourists though.
Fascinating area - I'd enjoy venturing in there.
The terrain is similar to the White Mtns. The river color is much more blue. Looks cold, did you stick in your toe? Our rivers are warm in summer and a green color although quite clear.
Neat! But downright shocking that you left the camera behind, darn miss H!!! Would have loved to have seen your own photography of such a beautiful place, never been, but...inspiring!

Unrelated, but are you a fan of Canadian blues man Paul Reddick? I bought Villanelle a few years back because I liked the title and the cover. I really liked it, and now pick up anything he releases.
